1/350 Reliant.

Postby andyh » Sun Aug 14, 2016 2:56 pm

I decided to make a start on my 1/350 scale Reliant conversion kit. It looks very daunting as I'd like to light this up. One of my biggest hurdles will be working out what to do with the shuttle bay surround lighting as the kit is cast in opaque resin.

I might have to ponder on it, but I can see that I'll probably have to cut the whole back panel out and try and redo it in clear resin. Not looking forward to that!

So I take it that the kit (rear of the Primary Hull) doesn't come hollow?

yes, it's hollow, but you cant cut out the slots around the shuttle bay doors because of the need for a right angled drill :)

Moongrin, LOL, that might work if it was about 20 times smaller to fit inside the shurttle bay opening :)

Kremin, have you got a link to his build?

looking at the front end of the blockhouse there are a couple of different methods being tried to attach it at the hull 1 cut the segments just behind the grid line so leave the front of the add on part intact or cut the add on part across where it meets the hull and mount it on top

I don't know which way I will do mine yet but I am leaning towards mounting on top, just for strengh of the joint

You might have a problem with clearance with that Moongrim. Don't see how you get that head into a 1/350 Reliant shuttle bay opening.

andyh,

You are you talking about the lit slots around the doors right?
