I was too scared to take the kit home today. Maybe tomorrow when I have more courage and a better excuse.
Only problem with that is tomorrow I am expecting two more sets and another on Thursday.

Re: Getting started
An idea... take each model home on a Friday.. not each pack of models, but each model..
this week, the little Enterprise.. next week, the Klingon.. then the Romulan..
If she asks, you bought each one for five bucks, spent a week building each one, didn't go find drugs or hookers or chase loose women... so five bucks a week brings several hours of pleasure and stress relief and most importantly you don't have 12 different builds going at the same time and can concentrate on each one to give it your whole attention.

i don't know. I'm making it up as I go.

Re: Getting started
One does not need Exact 0 either. The best for my money are the pro-edge knives and blades. I think their #11 is a tad larger than Exacto. A tad sharper too.
Multiple handles a must. I have the usual #11, a medical chisel and the tip deliberate snapped off blade. as constant use. I have the things squirreled around the house too. An Exacto handle in my computer bag. The cap from a Bic pen fits neatly over the blade. I have one among the pens in my office.
The #6 handles are idea for various saws.
A personal note. DO NOT work with dull knives. I am a slow learner. I have had two trips to the Emergency Room over that error. Dull knives require more force and are more likely to slip.

Re: Getting started
I was thinking of getting this:
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/52-piece-knife-set/
looks like a comprehensive kit and relatively cheap too.
Handy that the shop is next to my work too

I have done that too, have seen the tendon & knuckle on the index finger of my left hand... was cool to see my finger bend from the inside
It did not hurt or bleed until doctor used anesthetic "for pain" to stitch it up - what a way to spend valentines day night
