Overwatch Station

Post by Serin019 »

An exercise in scale....
Finally getting somewhere with the modified Frontier class station.
For reference I've settled on 2km for the x and y axis and 1.5 in the z.
I did ask Mr Drexler for some measurements but I think he just sent me the original ds9 numbers instead

Again this is part of the fanfic I'm working on. Based well above the galaxy as a base of operations for various non-Federation approved activities - Like spying and flaunting the prime directive.
You may spot the Osiris docked to one of the upper pylons.

I am in awe of the view from that bedroom. Very nice work, Serin!

Thanks! Me too actually. It was that scene in my head that pretty much sparked all of plots involving this station so its nice to see the beginnings of it taking shape.

nice - I'm looking forward to seeing any markets if there are traders and whatnot?
you're probably working on it,
though it looks like it needs more windows -
more forcefield-y open docking bays and whatnot.

If this is set up near a 'nature's particle fountain' -
it'd be awesome to see vessels come and hurriedly take away the spoils.
for, uh... science. yeah. science (not making questionably prime directive breaking stuff, nope).

I do wonder what parts of the prime directive this station is bending...

awesome stuff Serin019! :D
so much work must go into all this level of cool
Yep, it'll definitely have a few shops and stores, though I know not how to make them possible within the fiction established. Its a completely classified operation so I guess I'll have to get creative on the promenade. Maybe some shop owners who wholeheartedly believe in the cause?
And yep, more docking bays are coming. Still trying to get a forcefield material to work in the rendering engine and not look crap.

As to a particle fountain - tis a nice idea! But I've already got its position explained as necessary for subspacial topology in the area so as to enable spying on the powers of the milky way via subspace telescopes. Might be a bit too coincidental if there was also a particle fountain nearby. Hmmmmmmm

An excellent amount of good work so far. The new and improved DS9.

I take you're going to also incorporate the Nature Park area with the low grav flying folks?
There are Times, Sir, when men of good Conscience cannot blindly follow orders. You acknowledge their sentience, but ignore their personal liberties and freedoms. Order a man to hand over his child to the state? Not while I"m captain.

Definitely going to do the park, but since this station is a little more militarised I might drop the low gravity flying section for something else. Then again gravity is variable anyway so its not as if it has to be deactivated permanently.

Wow, great job! I'm not a fan of the design, but you're making it look really good!

So are you going to print it once you're done? :P

That was what I made the base model for when I first started it about a year ago. Then I realised that it'd be huge with pretty much any scale.
Maybe just a cute little 10cm model to stick on the top of my pc would be preferable.
