Who here likes stereograms? My Ent D in 3D

I've been playing around with a phone app that makes stereograms, and since my test subject is my Enterprise D, I though I'd share it with my fellow Trekoholics here.

I'll just open by explaining what these are. Stereograms come in two varieties.

• LEFT/RIGHT. The standard one is where you have the left eye image on the left and the right eye image on the right. It's the kind where you need a stereogram viewer (high tech from the 19th century!) or, if you're more modern, you can put it on your smartphone and look at it with a Google Cardboard viewer.
• RIGHT/LEFT. (aka "crosseye"). This one puts the left eye image on the right and the right eye image on the left, so that you can try to cross your eyes until the two images match up and look 3D.

I won't get into the red/green or red/cyan varieties.

So without further ado...

Some people are able to relax their eyes as if they're looking into the distance until the images match up. I find it's easier on the eyes this way, but you can only do it with a smallish picture, where the centre of the pics are more or less the same distance apart as your eyes.

I have a few more, if anyone is interested. I can also generate the red/cyan version if anyone has those old-style glasses.

It took a bit to get my eyes to cross (despite listening to Sean Spicer) but after a bit I was able to get them working.

YEAH! this was awesome. I had no idea you were a holographer.
crosseye method, lens transpose switching or google cardboard etc.

I guess you could say holography is a hobby of mine. It's a new subroutine I've added to my holomatrix.

that is a nice 'centerfold' - what a neat ship in 3D!
I will never say no to more red-cyan and red-green versions too
any chance of a bussard view or a front on/ starboard 45 and 18deg declination...

I'll see what I can do. The app "Camera 3D" has a few options for exporting images to the phone's camera roll. As for views, close-ups are *really* tough because every little error in offset, rotation, and angle turns into a photo that makes your eyes scream for mercy.

now, imagine;
the background is instead of a living room, a 'warpbubble' mapped to a 3Sphere that is perelman-susskind etc...
AND
its a layered 'lenticular' image - so, the background really moves as you change your viewing angle.
AND
we can change the camera parameters dynamically...

we can see a lenticular/3D image of the Ent D or E going to warp hehe.

I so wish I could do that. My living room is the only photography space I have at the moment.

I actually prefer the LEFT/RIGHT stereograms. If you can size the image so the centres of each are the same distance as your eyes are apart, you can get up close and let your eyes focus on the distance until the images drift together. Takes practice, but it's easier on the eye bulbs.

I'll see if I can output to RED/CYAN now.

If anyone has red/cyan 3D glasses, I'd be curious to know if this works. I can't try it myself.

The ones to crossing the eyes are funny, it is hard to get it at first, but when you figure out how to do, the result is amazing. Congrats for these stereograms and for the nice building.

Hell, yeah!!! I didn't know the process by crossing eyes, and it's instantly! As soon I crossed my eyes and superposed the both images all the 3D came like a snap! Love it!



When I first saw your thread I thought that you were referring to that crazy super colored books that you have to stay staring at it for a long time and then suddenly the 3D shapes pops out from the mess. I never had seen stereography with plain photos like that! It's amazing!
