So I came home from work one day and my wife describes the horror that had unfolded that day.
My darling little 4 year old daughter decided that daddies spaceship needed to fly. She had got hold of my lit 1/1400 E and had decided to rip it off of its stand and hurl it into space (the floor). Needless to say the ship was lost with all hands. So not to lose my enterprise history display it has been re purchased. No lights or electronics this time, just build, paint and decal.
Now I have decided to hand paint the aztec this time as I thought the wallpaper decals make it too toyish. So here goes......

Wow that is hand-painted? That's outstanding aztec'ing. My son (two) also likes to look at my fleet, but I keep them on a shelf high out of his reach, then I keep a few he's allowed to play with on the shelf and put them back when he's done so he always feels like he gets something "special" when I let him take one off the shelf and play.shan2371 wrote:So I came home from work one day and my wife describes the horror that had unfolded that day.

My own fault really.
I took it down to dust the shelf and forgot to put it back.
I have a playmates kelvin enterprise she normally plays with but she saw it and thought "mine"

Oh they know instinctively which ones you'd be most upset if they destroyed. I got a Revell 1/1400 Voyager last Christmas as a gift from a friend, which was a pretty big deal as that kit is hard to find/more expensive than I can usually afford to drop on one kit, so I knew if anything happened to it that is most likely going to be the most difficult ship in my collection to replace. Naturally that's the one my son always goes reaching for. I try to distract him with the Defiant (because I use the hard plastic Hallmark ornament as my 1/1400 stand in) and he won't have it.shan2371 wrote:My own fault really.

I am legitimately in awe of this build. I do have to ask...what masking tape do you use for this? I can't imagine the masking tapes I use every cutting into such small and precise pieces as to allow me to do a job like thisshan2371 wrote:Absolutely love this build. So much like the filming model

I just used tamiya yellow making tape. Only to mask off the lines of the secondary hull and the top and under side of the saucer. All of the aztecing was done by hand with a fine brush
