One person on Facebook attempted to measure the Disc's length by doing the measure-by-pixel method and came up with a substantially longer length. Though, as you said, most of the Disc's length is all nacelle

I actually don't mind if it's longer even than a sovereign so long as the habitable space is smaller and the length is mostly nacelle. It would make sense that they can make faster, smaller engines on bigger ships as time goes on. That was where Probert was headed with the short nacelles on the D and most other 24th century ships take that route. The Sovereign is a notable exception, and I'll forgive it bucking the evolutionary trend because those nacelles are gorgeous.

Hi!

juyt my 2 cents after 4 episodes:
- Klingons sucks
- Ship design (Discovery: strange rotating rings) sucks
- Spores sucks

BUT: the show makes a lot fo fun! I like it and I'm very interestng to see upcoming episodes! It's still inpossible to say something about the show. Remember: only 4 episodes are online...tbc...

BTT: on memory alpha is a list of all federation ships from the battle at the binary stars:

https://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Batt ... nary_Stars

Some ships have a registry numer too. I like it and wish them to my fleet in 1/1400 scale! Great modelling job in my future days :).

Greeting,
Michael

4 episodes in, and I'm NOT hooked yet. But neither am I saying I won't watch more. As many have pointed out, I also feel like this would have been better served as a post-TNG era program -- maybe even many more years than the mere decades that some people have mentioned. Say 50+ years. Oh well, nobody asked me, so I'll just roll with their decisions and see how it turns out. If asked right now, I'd tell people that it's just OKAY. Not great, not terrible, just one giant Meh of a show. But so was TNG on its first season (or two!). So I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. Oh, but one gripe.......WTH is with that "After Trek" !!!!!!!! analysis program? I watched 5 minutes of one episode of that and felt like barfing.

Orville, OTOH.......I *NEED* a 1/1400 scale model of that ship. I really enjoy that show.

I know, right? Although, I would want a 1/537 version of it. ;) But it's actually a lovely ship, and I'm really digging the show, despite the rather coarse, low-brow humour.
DANGER. SPACE DOORS ARE CLOSED.

"I saw it done on Discovery" is no excuse for anything, even breathing.

Check out MadMan's Model's. He prints models on-demand to any length you want. I ordered a 11.5" / 29.5cm-ish Discovery, received w/in 12 or 14 days of placing my order. And I know other folks who will tell you similar stories.

MadMan's Models

He has a Discovery and recently released a Shenzhou. Wholly subject on my part, but I think that Discovery has to be inthe 380m to 400m length range. I base that on comparing the shuttle bay opening to a 1k ST:V shuttle. Since the ST:D shuttle appears to be very close in dimensions to the ST:V shuttle, at a scale 290m (at 1/1000 scale, remember), the bay entry is way too small based upon visuals from the series.

Based upon these visuals:

Wholly conjectural in my part.

Anyhow, I'd wager that the 11.5" model is pretty close to 1/1400 scale. As a bonus, Ricky at MadShipyards can grow the model to whatever length you want.

I'll add to Griff's account of MadMan. Great guy to work with and he will be frank with you whether he can print something or not. His prices are reasonable and will communicate with you frequently on the progress of the print. I can't say enough things about him. You can find him on facebook.
