Busted my ass for 4 months, to get into a sous chef possistion and was told that I'm not personable enough, and that the boss was going to hire an old associate from his previous place of employment to fill said possistion.

Crappy thing is, most all the employees still come to me instead of the sous with there problems... just have to wait it out and see what happens
Yup, brown-noses for the cockblock

I'm not as mad over the whole situation- 'getting a friend a job' just !!!!!!!! at the feeling of being strung along and no real feeling that they EVER had any thoughts of me taking over

Yep in the same boat. Really makes me rethink how much I am willing to do for the boss in the future.

The litany of life. Bust your ass for someone else waiting for the promised carrot, and then they hand it to some fool.

Just a thought Meatloafr. But if you stick it out, and play nice, you'll have an excellent opportunity to give the newbie plenty of rope.

And you can be there for the cleanup to demonstrate how much better you'd be in that position.

Where is the like button for moongrims post.... this is what I am doing where i am at. The guy that was hired as sous is 65 and only wants to work for another year before he retires. An I don't think the director is going to last a full year either.

So today was crappy, started knowing I had an important meeting with 2nd in command of the company I work for (already bad news) and kids decided to take their time and made me late, then find out in the meeting that the entire department I work for will be dissolved at the end of the month.

Knew it was a possibility, but didn't think the company would be stupid enough to do it - they are not going to get the same quality of service that we did in house. Makes me feel sorry for the clients.

Well over 3 years with this company I used to care for out the window
