Re: Starcrafts 1:1400 TOS Enterprise (WiP)

This is coming along quite well. As far as as the colors go. I like the lighter grey for the main hull color and the darker grey for accent colors like the leading edge of the connecting dorsal, the scalloped areas under and behind the bussard dome"vents", the screens in the trenches on th...

The Battle of Sherman's Planet

This is sort of a work in progress but I thought I'd still go ahead and share it so here goes... This is a "graphic model photo novel" (if such a thing exists) that features my 1/1000 scale USS Abaddon dreadnought; my 1/350, 1/1000, 1/1400, and 1/2500 USS Enterprises; and my 1/650 and 1/10...

Re: Happy Birthday Pearl

I made the decision to put Pearl to sleep on April 15th. While the experience itself was anguishing, once it was over I didn't feel any sadness. There's an emptiness, to be sure, and you never quite love a pet so much as the one you grew up with. But it was time, and she and I both knew it. She too...

Re: Spindrift from Land of the Giants by Polar Lights

Update for today... I used this technique in my Apollo 11 Eagle build to separate the two glass (?) panels in the upper docking window port of the LEM. Only that time I used red adhesive backed vinyl strips. I cut thin strips of black sticky backed vinyl thin enough to fit along the back edge of the...

Soooooo.... anyway, here's a photo of the funk on the windows: https://farm1.staticflickr.com/789/27546890938_713cd557f4_b.jpg Junk by trekriffic , on Flickr I was not going to stand for that so... I removed the clear window plastic using a scribing tool and Tamiya mini-photo-etch saws: https://farm...

Re: Spindrift from Land of the Giants by Polar Lights

Decided to unmask the bow window ports in case any of the tape had come unsealed along the edges. Was planning a quick re-masking with fresh tape before priming when I noticed one of my worst fears.... Both windows had a tiny bit of "crap" on the inside surface??? It was quite clearly visi...

Re: 1966 AMT Enterprise Nacelle Dilemma

I've used nail acrylic for windows before. I used it in my Leif Ericson but not much since then. Makes for really tough slightly opaque windows which is fine since I don't want you to see the interior.
