1:350 Bridge Re-Build

I was never happy with my initial bridge build. It was too large. The height was over by a full 2mm. The diameter was too large and it didn't fit right. https://patrickivan.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/wpid-2012-08-06-20-04-27.jpg?w=450&h=337 So I did some more accurate drawings in sketchup. Used...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

There is a neat design element that I just noticed. And to preface my comment to come, I did notice there was an open slit along the pylons (as was the Eaves Enterprise concept). What I didn't notice before, was that from the right angle, and or right lighting, it creates a neat effect making it loo...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

I like how the ship turned out. Could they have kept it closer to the original with more texturing? Sure, but that was clearly not what the producers want it. I think it is a better iteration of the ship than what we got in the Kelvin timeline. Agreed. JJprise is an odd looking beast. Though it's f...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

Ya- it's certainly going to be one of those things that people will love or hate for a billion reasons. One point about that people make about the fragile looking pylons always bugged me. It's the future. The strength of materials is nothing compared to: warp speed, the manipulation of extreme amoun...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

I can't say if I like that it's very similar to the NX-01 concept. Right down to the split in the nacelles, and the very angular leading edge of the neck. As the 1701 that is. As a connie variant, I'm all on board for it. Is it my imagination, or does it look like there's a docking hatch between the...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

Well, there should be a differentiation between his artistry and what he's allowed to do as an employee. I have a copy of of his drawing of the TOS Enterprise that is just beautiful and I've also talked to him briefly. He is truly a fan and the work he does for Star Trek goes beyond a mere employer...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

Gotta say, I'm torn. For the most part, I like it. But the angled nacelle pylons pre-TOS make zero sense. I liked the split pylons better, on the John Eaves design they stole them off of. But, I do like the glowing warp grills on her. And, they put a frikken windshield on the Enterprise! I t...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

Thanks for posting these pics. I have to say that I'm completely conflicted. First off, while I watch STD, I'm not a huge fan. For the 21st century, the writing and justification for things is pretty sloppy and disappointing. But this is the type and style of show that is popular now, so it is what ...

Re: Oberth Cutaway

Cool cutaway. I love cutaways. But I have been, and always will be, 100% sure that the lower section is a science scan pod and maybe fuel storage. But all scan equipment (like airborne early warning and control mounted a plane), and no need for peeps down there. Even the larger scaled up Oberths. I'...
