Re: TOS-E thickening project

That is what I was going on. Been a Trekkie a while worn out a shuttle craft or two. FJ plan sheets 6 meters at the saucer edge. (damn mixed measure systems.) The Polar Lights 1/1000 E-0 by scale 6 meters at the saucer edge. The 1/2500 Refit at .13 inches would be 8.24 meters. Now, if you run the nu...

The station is looking nice, CA aside.

Re: TOS-E thickening project

I did some calculation; to get 3 meter decks the 1/12500 is a little thin, not 0.04 inches thin. 0.01 is more like it. Good thing I haven't glued it up.

So is the Refit too thick?

I'm going to do some measurements of the 1/1000 kit and see what that yields.

Re: star trek cargo pods

Movie directors are notorious about this kind of detail. As in not getting it. Andrew Probert designed a rec deck that would actually fit in the spot they put it,. for ST:TMP. Robert Wise's reaction was "No one comes to these things with a slide rule." Robert's reply on his web site: "...

Re: TOS-E thickening project

I am just correcting the overly thin saucer. 0.04 is hardly a couple of decks. the mod will give the E-0 the same thickness as the refit.

TOS-E thickening project

Working on this one. Everyone knows the ship. The saucer improvements will be the only unique parts of the build. Turning the innies to outies. This to make sure everything lines up. The filler has not been sanded to shape as of yet, just roughly cut. the filler is a slab of 0.04' styrene. http://ph...
