I voted in "Other" because I am not scale dependable so the scale will depend on the "actual" ship size and the project involved. Currently I am working on a kind of small size fleet where the ships should look similar in size when put side by side. So I have for instances old Enterprises in 1:1000 together with 1:2500 D and E. Well, you got the picture!

I like stuff that can fit safely on a bookshelf these days! So, 1:1000 and 1:2500.

My favorite scales for the Enterprise-C, Enterprise-D, Enterprise-E are 1:2500
I also have a lot of 1:2500 connies and connie refits, but my favorite scale for Constitution and refit are 1:1000

I still love my 1:537 Enterprise-A. May it rest in peace...or pieces! Last month, while cleaning and reorganizing, it met a sad end, and fell from the very top of my bookshelf case while I was changing things around. That's the biggest drawback to that scale, just a little too big, and you end up either having to hang it or place it on the very top of something, where it will end up falling! :(

I will build another, which I have in a box that is packed away, but too busy right now. I may even try to fix the old one.

Seriously, the mushroom spacedock is also subject to magical size syndrome

Or the Defiant :) She's either a tiny escort, relative to other ships (images from EAS):

Or large enough to have its own shuttlebay:

Hi to all. If you don't count my Introduction post, this is my first official post, so here goes.

I am kinda in the same boat(spaceship?) as NCC1966, I also voted 'Other', the scale is not what I look for, but rather the actual size of the model. Space is often at a premium when you're a modeller and you always want to display your handiwork. So, I guess it comes down to how much display space and how many models you have/want.

I tend towards scales that work out at around 15 - 20 inches (35 -50cm). Any companion models, say, a shuttle to compliment the 1701-A should match in scale. If I am honest, 1:1 (or as close to) is my favourite. I would happily spend the rest of my days building a full size... any ship, but the E-D is my passion (Oops, did I say that out loud).

I do wish manufactures would place the actual size of the finished model on the box and not just the scale. I recently purchased a model of the Horten HO229 (German prototype flying wing jet fighter) and it came in 3 major scales:
1:72,1:48 and 1:32. The difference in scale is not that great but the difference in detailing generally is. Guesss which scale I chose.

Now you've done it. Modelers who will build the interior of the spacedock will leave their FO sticking out to make it screen accurate
