USS DISCOVERY vs TOS E THOUGHTS

For everything Star Trek related, that isn't covered by the other forums.

You ever wonder where they're finding all that dirt, on a starship?

So, what did everyone think of 'Equinox: Part 1' and 'Equinox: Part 2' on last night's Voya — err, whoops, excuse me — 'The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry' on last night's Discovery?

DANGER. SPACE DOORS ARE CLOSED.

"I saw it done on Discovery" is no excuse for anything, even breathing.

Shhhhhhhhudddup! LOL

I haven't seen it yet... Tonight!

I have heard one rumour though. Bad enough about this stupid spore drive network nonsense, but if that !!!!!!!! saucer spins, this is no longer Star Trek.

I'm already struggling with it AS Star Trek. It's fine as a sci-fi series (despite massive holes in the plot and shitty writing- and John Eve's designs), but so far it's not feeling like Star Trek. That makes me a little sad.

I still have hope though. It's early, and they need to get their footing still- I hope.

Honestly, The Orville feels more like Star Trek to me. Sorta like Next Generation trek.

Agreed.

It was surprising how serious the show is. I expected a complete comedy. The tones and very understandable social commentaries, are quite enjoyable and relatable.

The ship is also surprisingly more well thought out than I expected. Though obviously HEAVILY and I'm sure not secretly, influenced by TNG styles. The whole thing almost fits in the TNG timeline as the next door neighbours that you kinda don't want, but they're there, so you're kinda stuck being buddies with them. Like the Klingon Empire, but funnier. LOL

And I like the characters right off.
