The right paints for Starfleet

Postby vikingborg » Sat Jan 11, 2014 11:41 am

Guys

Has Iv been out of the game for a while now.

Would someone point me to the correct paints and colours to use.

Iv got the Klingons, Borg, Cardassions and the Romulans covered but it's Starfleet I need help with all eras would be great.

As I'm going though all my paints to work out what I need.

Cheers Stu

Yeah think you may have a point, just been looking at a couple of old models I have and some have the same base colour.

Perhaps, break it down by era (TOS, TOS movies, TNG, TNG movies and "alternate universe" JJ movies).

I tend to prefer an off white for all eras mainly on scale effect. At best a very light gray.

For the base color I use light ghost grey, aircraft gray (USA) and duck egg blue or a combination of these. To create subtle differences between the base colors, I use white primer, green primer, grey primer or black primer. The latter is a pain to cover up with a light shade, so it's mostly relegated to adversary ships to create that "I'm a menace" look.
