Was wondering if anyone has tried Testors florescent paints before? I picked up a six color set the other day at my local hobby shop on a whim. When I got them home and looked at them under black light I was a bit disappointed with a few of the colors.
Here are some photos
In the photo from left to right is a bottle of thinner, then green, blue, pink, red, yellow and orange.
Green looks nice. Blue does nothing at all. Pink is vibrant. Red looks exactly like orange. Yellow is good. Orange is very orange.
I was really expecting the red to pop a nice fiery glow but the pink looks better as a red in my opinion. Blue is a complete failure. I'm wondering if maybe I got a bad batch or if blues and reds are just more difficult chemically to fluoresce? Are there other brands that maybe make a better blue and red?

Re: Florescent Paint
try some on a test part - glass on the containers might be filtering out some of the glow

The sprue is white. What color base coat would you suggest?

Re: Florescent Paint
just about any white will do... some paint and plastics can react differently to the UV light

That is a question, what is your bare sprune doing under black light.

Bare sprue can end up in some strange places!Tesral wrote:That is a question, what is your bare sprune doing under black light.
To the eyeball the blue doesn’t glow. Same as in the photos.Tesral wrote:Second, what is Mk1 Eyeball showing you? Cameras can sometimes queer the results depending on the sensitivity of the CCD
LOL. Definitely off-line.slawton wrote:Warp Core is off-line!
Once the snow has melted and the roads are drivable I'm going to the hobby shop and pickup a different brand of fluorescent paints.

Somewhere among my junk there is some glow in the dark paint. Not the blacklight stuff but the luminescent in the dark stuff.
I need to drag that out, see if it is still good and employ same in some fashion.
