Question re. The 1/350 TOS smooth saucer

Post by andyh » Sat Apr 06, 2019 3:43 pm

Just a question if anyone can answer.

On the smooth saucer, were the three porthole lights (or whatever they were) on the bottom of the saucer (just after of the side running lights) moved from were there were positioned on the original grid line saucer? And if so, by how much?

Thanks for your input :)

Andy.

The original release (Grid lined) had the lights on the starboard side too far aft, Here's Garry Kerr's take on it when it was pointed out on Hobby talk

what had happened was they were placed aft of the grid line

however when they released the smooth primary hull they moved them forward

On the edition I had of the original kit with the gridlines I had the same problem. Ended up having to fill and re-drill those windows.

Thanks heaps for that guys. I’ve filled my grid lines years ago so I’ve lost my land marks. I might have to sand the primer off and see if I can relocate the actual position of the grid :)
