1/1000 Round 2 Klingon D7 **WITHDRAWN**

Postby IceGiant » Sun Feb 23, 2014 2:48 am

I've decided to go with the Round 2 Klingon D7. My girlfriend gave it to me for Christmas, and she's quite pleased I've decided to go with that kit. I'm going to be doing it in the look of the remastered with the green.

The chromed parts can be a pain though.

Yeah I agree, I plan on stripping the chrome off using a technique I found on starship modeller reference section. Seeing as the example used the same parts I want to do it should work out fine. Soak them overnight in coca-cola. :)

i remove chrome by soaking the parts in bleach . kinda stinks tho but if ya have a container ya can close while they soaking its not so bad ..ya can almost watch it dissapear . only takes a few min tho the parts are still pretty shiney and will need a bit of sanding for paint to stick good

I use castrol super clean. It is a purple automotive degreaser. Dosent smell as bad as bleach and all you do is rinse in water. Good stuff.

3 days soaking in coca-cola and then a seperate day of soaking in bleach and the bloody chrome still won't come off. I may go with Del's holy grail and use Green Works! :)
