The "logic" (pardon the pun) of teh color selection is growing on me. It's kind of a "legacy" ship. Representing part of the "old guard".

Decals mostly done. Very subtle! Aztecing ;) but it still adds a lot. I can't believe decals kept me away from modeling. They are no where near as scary as I thought they would be.

very nice build. I love how the aztec decals show just ever so slightly through the red. Looking great.

Decals still scare me, especially after tearing or otherwise mutilating so many of mine.

I like the blood red colour. Very striking.

Thanks. I'm liking it. Still learning how to handle decals. They are fussy. Just not the nightmare I had imagined them to be.

Masked off ready to paint the phaser strips. Bottom is the same as top.

And now some more back story.

The T'pel spent the next thirty five years on boarder patrol and mission specific errands. She was involved heavily on the Tholian boarder. Also was one
of the ships that responded to the Khitomer massacre. Was moved to the Cardassion boarder when hostilities first broke out. Remained on patrol till her decommissioning in 2361

After her decommissioning in 2361 the T'pel was used as an academy training vessel. Engineering Cadets were given the opportunity to have hands on experience of retrofitting modern technologies into older space frames. In the twelve years that she served in this capacity the T'pel had her warp core replaced with a modified Steamrunner core. All EPS and plasma lines replaced. New computer cores and several bio-neural gel packs installed. Her warp coils were replaced with Nova class coils. And structural integrity was boosted to handle higher speeds. The T'pels shield grid is a modified Saber class. She was given modern torpedo launchers. However she still can not fire quantum rounds. Four Type 8 phaser arrays were installed replacing the existing phaser turrets. Even several modern life boats were added. Almost every system was upgraded. So with the advent of the Dominion war the T'pel was an obvious choice for recommissioning. She was given a once over and sent out on patrol in sector 002. Only her second captain in nearly a hundred years of service was Thomas Riggs.

So finally have her done and photographed.

But First the rest of the back story.

During the Breen surprise attack on earth several smaller attacks occurred. One was on a convoy the T'pel was escorting. In the first volley the bridge was destroyed killing all the senior staff. Ensign Marcus Shepard took command from engineering and was able to destroy the Breen ship when it lowered its shields to raid the cargo ships in the convoy. Ship and crew limped back to earth. The ship was repaired and left spacedock under the command of Adam Ramierez a long time friend of Captain Riggs. She survived the war building a small reputation as lucky. Surviving several battles with odds stacked her. Was able to take down two Keldon cruisers in a battle around a trinary pulsar. Hung in a pitched battle with three dominion attack ships for more then a half hour before she was aided by the defiant class USS Dallas. After the war she was placed on patrol duty. She worked with Starfleet intelligence against the Orion syndicate when she was eventually commanded by now Captain Shepard. He took command in 2383 and was her captain till 2392 when she was decommissioned a second time and sent to the Vulcan history museum in the Vulcan system.

Bitchin. The red was ballsy and you pulled it off. I loved the backstory, too; Shepard sounds like a hell of an officer.
