well the first set was too small so I must have measured it wrong, not to worry I can still use them and I have cut new ones correct

Added the struts for the aft of the hull and to give strength to support the nacelles

and testing the top plate in place

Image

the bottom plate is a slightly different shape as it is lower than the main hull so doesn't sit flush with it

She's coming along nicely.

Had a bit of a set back with the build, somewhere I used the wrong paint on the bottom of the saucer and the whole thing turned into a crackle glaze look. So tried various methods of sanding, filling, stripping was on the verge of having to scrap it and as a last try I totally recoated the suface with a wood filler from a local DIY shop, It's not as smooth as I would like it but it'll have to do or I'll just take a hammer to it

Wood filler? What did it do? Fill in the crackle? Did it adhere to the plastic OK?

Yep seems to have adhered ok, in coming months I might try it on something bigger and see what it's like. Checking the tin it says it contains styrene and consistancy wise it's very similar to car body filler. I decided to try it after I had to use some on a door frame and was very suprised how smooth it sanded

this is the stuff and at £10 for over half a kilo reasonable price

Trying out Nacelle lights

Just going for a single red 10mm led for the bussard collectors

Image

might leave them like this rather than putting the photo etch grill on

3 3mm LEDs drilled into part of the stand parts from the old refit kit
