Enterprise D

Postby DonS » Mon Dec 18, 2017 2:26 pm

Been working on this for a while, CAD model is done and a bunch of parts have been ordered from a 3D print service. Final model will be translucent for lighting with most of the ship done in polyurethane with fiberglass saucer pieces. Renders of the CAD model parts and a mailing list for interested parties can be found here:

Working on the decal sheet now...every lifeboat is individually numbered so this'll take awhile....

Don, drop over to "Introductions" and tell us about yourself. We don't bite...much.

I’ve got Don’s 1/350 Reliant conversion for the PL/R2 1/350 Refit and its a great kit. I highly recommend it.

I’m also on the list to buy this 1/1000 E-D, and jumped w/o hesitation.

Welcome Don!

Sweet! a 1/1000 is probably too big for me (right now- need that "space cave"...) but the images on your site are looking awesome!

Yea I need a house for my hobbies and a house to live in.

The 1/1000 D is an amazing project. Too rich for my blood, or limited budget, but amazing.

The E-D in 1/1000 is only going to be 25” x 19” x 5.5”,IIRC from one of Don’s posts on one of the other forums. Pretty manageable, IMNSHO, since that’s only 3” longer than the old 1/537 scale Refit kit.

Now, if it were a 1k D’Deridex-class Warbird.... :o

Yeah, at 25" long it's not too too big...but the width of the saucer means the model will take up a fair amount of space. I have a section of the saucer done as a test piece on my desk and I can tell you the full saucer will be an impressive sight!
