Hello all! I thought I'd show one of my few ships I've actually build up in 1/1400 scale. This one took a few years to get done, and I guess it still isn't. I have to do the sensor dome and attach the bottom phaser strip.
This ship was originally going to be the Excalibur from the New Frontier novels, but when I ordered the decals, they sent me Adelphi and said I would have to wait if I wanted Excalibur. So it just sounded like a whole thing, so I just kept the Adelphi set.
I wanted to do the refit style ambassador class and I got it into my head that I wanted it to have the Yellow Voyager era arrowheads. I also figured I could, at least in my OCD mind, get away with any inaccuracies that weren't accurate to the studio model, especially the colors not being spot on.
I have a feeling the lower nacelle thing was because they broke and fell in or something and they just went with it. I really like the look, so that was also one of the motivations of doing a later version. The nacelles on the studio model now are lower even than they were when it was shot as the Yamaguchi or Zhukov on the show, so thats where I have the suspicion that there was some breakage or whatever.
Anyway, so her is my attempt at the ship. I realize the red stripes behind the yellow arrows should probably be a bit different but oh well. Its fine for my collection.
I also pictured it next to my only other finished (well almost, I still have to put the red stripes around the phasers)1/1400 ship, the USS Firebrand.

Nice job. The Ambassador is one of my top ten designs.
