Dreadnought to me is something with more firepower not more speed.
Rollbars? Noooooo....

Megaphasers, though, would be cool

The third engine is not for speed, all of its power is channeled through the weapons systems....meaning mo' powerful phasers etc.

If not rollbars then how about two torpedo launchers on the upper side of the saucer like one of the Nebula variants.

Which is odd, because the warp core is the generator, the nacelles just do the space-bendy-thingy.

I suppose having a third intake it can produce more energy but doesn't the third drive its own warpcore?

Depends on which game system you deal with. Franz Joesph put a third nacelle on the "Dreadnaught" class of ship in the Tech manual. and the debate has raged since.

My take, YMMV, the third nacelle is no more power. It is an unstable warp arrangement with high value to maneuver but a liability in cruise mode. Ergo the third nacelle is not usually active in cruise mode.

It would require a larger warp core. More coils to feed you need more plasma.

So it's Franz Joseph's fault... FRANZ!!!!! 《shakes fist》

My take on the third nacelle is that it is indeed just to do the wibbly wobbly space bendy thingy and it's there in case one of the other nacelles is offline or damaged

Well I fed Chalupa some Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and he went to work on the Endeavor...
Stretched the Secondary hull... Added 2 more Twin torpedo Launcher sections (1 twin launcher on each side of the secondary hull facing forward and 1 twin launcher under the secondary hull facing aft), Added a total of 6 Mega Phasers (2 Forward/Aft facing above the Outboard warp nacelles and 2 Froward facing under the Outboard warp nacelles), added some pylons connecting all 3 Warp nacelles (Kinda like a roll bar)... he was about to change out the Primary Hull for a reliant style one when the sugar in the BBQ sauce wore off and he crashed into sleep ... much like Godzilla... but heres a sneak peek

I don't like the roll bar between the nacelles. It really hides the lines of the ship.
