Northtrek Sparta Class Cutter

Postby mophius » Tue Jan 23, 2018 6:47 pm

As many of you know I have been working on NorthTrek's Sparta class border cutter.
I had been posting on Mo's Shipyard but now that the build is nearing completion I will put it in its own thread for everyone to ogle as they see fit.

First up the fitting and primer.

Next up basecoat. I forget which colour I used but I have a feeling it was an automotive grey. Ford Polar Grey from the Halfords range. Ok this one has the first details on of darker grey areas on phaser emitters and some panelling.

And finally Decals. Ranging from starting to almost done.

Decals are all on now. I didn't like doing the phaser end markers. The previous owner of the kit must have given the decal sheet a couple of coats of glosscoat which made the sheet very thick. When cutting the smaller ones off they kept popping off the sheet before the soak.
Had to use PVA glue to get them to stick.

That was really unnecessary. The decals that come with any of the kits bought at MVM don't need another coat of gloss

And here she is all done. Only thing I didn't do was paint the ventral aft torpedo launchers, but you don't really notice it.
