Klingon kitbash - advanced BoP

Postby RogueWolf » Thu Feb 08, 2018 8:10 pm

So I've been at the bench working on a few projects when some parts caught my eye. They looked like they were meant to be something Klingon-ish. So I got to work.

After about an hour I had this bashed out for the underside of the hull;

And this for the upper hull;

That bridge top is the foot of an 1/144 AT-ST walker. Looks like it was made to be a bridge to me.

So after sitting on my bench for a few days with little bits of progress here and there, I decided it had too much old BoP in her. So I scrapped the upper hull (pink part) and the head. I got to work combing through the bins and kits I have for spare parts. As usual, inspiration struck from a Gundam Kit.

Current parts break down;

Bottom details again;

Over head with the warp nacelles left to the back;

Approximately where the nacelles will mount;

Once I'm happy with the lay out of parts and more work on the head is completed, I'll start adding the plating to the head and main hull to make her look more Klingon-ish.

I like it! If I may, my only recommendation for now would be to shorten the neck a bit

Swinging arms or not?
I still like it.
The first bash looked like the D32 too much.
There is no dark side of the moon really, matter of fact its all dark.

The bridge puts me in mind of the D5 and Augment ship . I could easily see that as the next type along from the ENT era design .

Just a thought . You go with the flow . 8-)

I agree, it's got an Early BOP/D5 feel to it

I was drawing heavily from the ENT era Klingon designs but I want to have her end up with a Post Dominion War type feel. I'm not sold on the head just yet, but it is going in the right direction I think.

I like it. The whole design. Kudos to you for continuing to grow the non-Federation fleets.

One thought? The head looks more avian (read Romulan) to me. Slender, raptor-like. I think a heavier head might pull a more Klingon vibe. Or not. It really does look good as is, just giving you a knee-jerk second perspective.

Glad you like it Kratok, I was gonna name the class of her after your handle. I agree with your thoughts on the head, I'll be using sheet styrene to plate over it to make it more Klingon and less Romulan.

I'm truly flattered. :oops:
If it turns out half as well as your other offerings, it will be stellar.

I have said it before, and will say it again - you are amongst the very best. Your ability to take a pile of plastic pieces and turn them into a masterpiece of design, over and OVER again, blows me away.
