Alternate Paradigms Atlacatl Strike Cruiser

Post by mophius »

Started this kit yesterday.
DSC_0051.JPG
Cleaned up a small bit of flash and trimmed some joining parts up. Nacelles to pylons needed a little work to make them sit parallel and aligned.
Under saucer spine needed the aft face filing to make it sit closer to the pylon mount.
Only the saucer required no work other than small bits of flash removed.

Trusty Superglue then took over after a thorough wash in washing up liquid. Everything is how it should be but now need to fill in a few gaps along the spine and impulse engine areas.

Anytime. Ever since Del put the first post up about the Ph3 I liked the kit. I wanted to do this one first as it is my least favourite and any mistakes can be found before moving on to the two I really like. I hope to be doing more soon but weather may delay painting

Anything else in the pipeline for you?

These kits are really cool and a great take on Starfleet design ethic (IMHO). I should get to work building the one I have!

On a side note, the kitbasher in me wants to use the saucers (underside-up) as habitat modules in a starbase build.

That's actually a great idea! Looks perfect for a Star base!

Hmmm...I kinda want to make another Defense Outpost.
...and this saucer looks like part of the old FASA Alamo class defense outpost.

Bit of filling along the saucer spine and around the Impulse engine.

Aww, now I'm sad. I have a soft spot for the Atlacatl because I found it while playing around with the test print parts. It gave me the idea to create variants to the Connie Mk III and round out the fleet that Brian Pimenta started.

Well, if these three sell well I have an idea for an Excelsior-like variant. Like these three, the parts will be modular so it's possible to mix & match parts. Del is also playing with the idea of creating a variant of his own.

As for other stuff, Del has the masters for about 6 more ships that he will be releasing them over the next year. There are 3 Romulan ships, conversion parts for the Cardassian Galor and 2 Klingon ships. I'm also working on two TOS era ships and the Ferengi D'Kora. Maybe I should create a thread for discussion.

I did not think of that. That would be great to see!

When I say least favourite it is by the very smallest of margins.

A little smoothing of putty tonight although it did take me ages because of the lack of room under there.

Hopefully I will get a coat of primer on there by the end of the weekend to see how things lie.
