Hallmark U.S.S. Discovery ornament review

Post by Shark »

I just picked up the new Hallmark Discovery ornament and I like it! It's got an amazing amount of detail and I think is worth the $32 + asking price, though if you're willing to wait a year you might be able to get one %50 off.

It's 7.25 inches long and the bridge and deflector light up. The only major inaccuracy is the depth of the lower secondary hull, which is deeper to house the batteries.

Here's an example of the level of detail. Wild.

Cool. I paid for mine but I've not been to the store yet. I'm an established customer, so they let me pay by phone over the weekend as I was at Supercon. I'm going tomorrow to pick up my stuff. :) That ship does look nice!

Could you post a pic of this ship near another well known ship in sacred scale ?
The original ship is too big for my taste but a smaller one could do, what is the “scale” of the hallmark model ?

this might be a silly question, but why couldn't they light up the nacelles?

By "sacred scale" do you mean 2500 scale? If so, I'll try.

Found amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls was the lost Book of Skhail, Wisdom of Moddella - a manuscript from the ancient Myteetintweleff sect (a tiny group numbering around a dozen) which had not been officially canonized within the Hebrew Bible. Despite this fact, an oral tradition has kept these principles alive and has been adopted by many influential peoples throughout history, including the Ayemtee, Urtell and Rowndtu. Decyphered within these verses, we find these translations:
God created the heavens and the earth and all that can be seen. God created man in His own image, male and female, to rule over all His creations. ... To Honor God, Man shall copy God's great works. Man cannot achieve the vast Greatness of God, so Man's creations are a small fraction of the original. In the beginning series, Man could make large works. Filled with pride, Man said behold, look at the great beauty! But once Man looked back, he could now see that his work did not match God's creation, in shape, color or greatness. Determined, Man toiled long days, weeks, months, years. No matter how hard or long, Man could not achieve God's perfection, for Man had been cursed after eating fruit from the forbidden tree. ... Later generations were plentiful, with a great expanse. Man toiled even harder for these greater works. Man had to make sacrifices, first an an animal offering, but these sacrifices were to become greater and greater. Man would have to give up his wife or sacrifice his firstborn child. God saw Man's despair and spoke "Enough! Thou shall only build works in my Honor to the Sacred Scale, which henceforth shall be fifty square!" sayeth the Lord. And it was so.

Oh my GOD! Literally - Oh my GOD! I'd always wondered about the origins of the Sacred Scale.
Now mine eyes have been opened! Praise the Almighty Lord of Styrene!
