1/2 Scale Nomad

Postby tmlindsey » Tue Apr 10, 2018 12:42 am

Hello All!

After many months, I'm almost finished with a 1:2 Nomad for the same person who requested the 1:1 Nomad last year.

Fairly happy with the results so far. The electronics were provided by someone an out-of-town friend knows (the local guy flaked out on me, as feared/expected).

Purist Warning: The "more colorful" paint job was their request, not mine; but it looks better than some of the suggested combinations

I'm soooooo tried of looking at Nomads right now

I wish I could wrap my head around electronics and do them myself, but that stuff totally escapes me.

excellent work, TMLindsey!
I like both variants of NOMAD -
1:1 is 'exactingly close to as seen-on-screen".
1:2 is "alien-metal/color variant".

1:2 scale has a majesty to it,
it'd look great next to a Tektite collection/cut-geode collection etc,
the model has this 'implicit question metanarrative' "What is NOMAD made out of? what is the metallurgic composition of NOMAD/ what did 60s' Sci-Fi think about metallurgy" to it,
it's just awesome.

1:2 scale NOMAD asks - "why is NOMAD like this - is it alien metal, did this NOMAD enter an atmosphere/shear area? Is it part of NOMADs active camouflage system?"
it'd also look interesting under light UVBlight etc or chroma-gel lights.

Thanks :)

Speaking as a purist, I was very uneasy about doing the more colorful version, but I am actually happy with the two-tone effect. I imagine if Nomad was on "Lost in Space" vs "Star Trek" it would have been at least this colorful
