Finished DS9 USS Lakota!

Postby holt35 » Sat May 05, 2018 1:18 am

Just thought I'd show the finally finished USS Lakota model as seen in the DS9 episode Paradise lost.

I restarted working on this model last October not long after finishing my Excelsior build. This is a kit I started back in 2009 I think right before Round 2 repoped the E-B but I wasn't getting the results I wanted from the mods I was doing at the time so I put it aside and picked up a new Round 2 repop and started over finally making my Enterprise-B out of that one. After I finished Excelsior in September I still had the left over NCC parts from that kit so I decided to revisit the old E-B that I had boxed up for almost a decade ago. Using the new Excelsior parts as well as the aftermarket lower saucer and neck parts I started finishing the mods and installing the new parts, Construction went fast and smooth and I had the model overall finish by the end of December however not the decal phase. This is where the work slowed down as well as stopping for a few months for a lot of reasons. After doing two Excelsior class models back to back I'm pretty burned out on them and don't plan on touching one in the near future.

Modifications include
Making the secondary hull taller and wider
Making the booms stick out more then the standard kits do
Slopping the sides of the new impulse engines
Making the pylons a little taller
Adding the new Excelsior parts and probably a few other things that aren't coming to mind right now.

Anyway Glad I was able to finish this model that I started so long ago, it's actually the first time I've ever gone back to a kit like that and finished it. Thinks for looking, Questions and comments and criticisms welcome! Here's a look at her.

Great looking ship, shame the refit version didn't appear more.
