New to the forum

Post by slawton » Sun Apr 07, 2013 2:46 am

Hi All,

I live in sunny Florida with a wife & 5 kids. I am not quite old enough to have seen Star Trek when it aired, but I grew up with the reruns. I am fighting off old age (losing by the way) with Martial Arts, basketball & weight lifting. I work as a software engineer.

I'm a Sci-Fi Fan and collector of model kits. I'm a fairly recent member of the Mighty 10-Twelve, hoping to learn how to become a better modeler. I want my ships to be the same scale, so I've chosen 1/2500. I'm trying to support the industry by buying kits from various businesses. I also purchased the SciFi Skunkwerks line to keep those excellent kits in production (although I've run into some speed bumps, both personally & professionally).

With technology, internet, products & materials, this hobby can do work of exceptional quality (as has been displayed by numerous members). I'm appreciative of all the research & works others have done. There's still plenty of ships that have never been built & others which could be made more accurate/better. Many projects lack accurate size estimates (even contradictory ones), schematics, various angles or even definitive coloring. I'm looking forward to building my "fleet" and contributing to the community.

Welcome Welcome.

Here is one resource for schematics:
